Our hero, Samus Aran. Over the years her looks have changed drastically. Samus has gone from a few pixel sprite, to a high poly 3D model. Armed with her Power Suit and Arm Cannon, she helps rid the galaxy of evil and looks good doing it.
Metroid I:
Detailed huh? NO! This is back in the day when Samus's helmet was really huge
and her gun was really green. And you weren't sure if Samus was even human.
Luckily her looks improved over the next game.
Metroid II:
Return of Samus:
Samus looks A LOT better in this game. But this time around, she was black-and-white.
Hey, but don't let that hold you back. Remember what Michael Jackson said?
It doesn't matter if you're black or white.
Super Metroid:
Finally, Samus is detailed and colored. She looks so much better in Super
Metroid. I don't know if you can notice but in Super Metroid, Samus is a lot
taller and skinnier than in other games.
Metroid Fusion:
First of all, the biggest change in this game is Samus has a new suit. But
now whenever she gets a suit upgrade, all it does is change her color. Too
bad her shoulders don't get bigger or anything like that. You should see the
Varia upgrade. It makes her look like a clown sorta.
Metroid Prime:
Ooo! Samus is in 3D this time around. She also has some noticeable differences
from her Super Metroid suit. First of all is that her suit is more sleek than
her old one. Another difference is that there are a lot more lights on this
suit . I believe in Metroid Prime 2, if Samus gets rid of her Fusion suit,
that she'll be wearing this one again.
The "First
Real" Samus:
This is what Samus FIRST looked like. Back in Japan in the 80's when Metroid
first came out. This suit look uhh... bad ? I don't know. The suit doesn't
have alot of detail on it and the helmet looks too big. This could of been
done because the design for Samus's suit didn't look too real until Metroid
II came out. This suit was used for the Metroid 1 commercial.
The "Sort
of Real" Samus:
Ah, good. This suit finally looks good. But gosh derent, it's not a real suit
like the one before it. That's why I called it "The Sort of Real Samus."
Because it's a stop-motion model that they used. This "suit" was
used in the Metroid 2: Return of Samus commercial.
The "Not
Real at All" Samus:
Eh... even though this suit was made a few years after the Metroid 2 suit
was made they both look about the same. Actually, I think that the Metroid
2 suit looked better. Hey, but you have to cut them some slack seeing that
this is a 3D model of Samus and not a puppet. Also, they only showed the Samus
model for about two seconds. This "suit" was used for the Super
Metroid commercial.
The "I
Don't Know If It's Real or Not" Samus:
Ooh! This one looks good. This is the Fusion suit. I say that I don't know
if it's real or not because, if you watch the commercial on Metroid Fusion,
you won't see most of the suit and you won't even see Samus get up. All you
can see is her face through the visor a little bit. This "suit"
was used for the Metorid Fusion commercial.
The "New
Real" Samus:
This isn't actually the real Samus. But it's the closest we have. The suit
isn't metal, and the gun, thank god, doesn't work. Contrary to what I thought,
there is actually a stuntwoman in the suit. Also, theyre are two suits. One
is detailed and used for the close-up shots and one is light and used for
the action shots. (thanks to AMetroidGuy for this one)
This costume is based off of the Metroid Prime suit. It isn't exactly proportional
to the Prime suit but it still looks pretty cool. This suit was used for the
commercial for Metroid Prime.
The 'Real
Real" Samus:
Yes, yes, the suit does have a face. That's what Samus looks like. I know,
I know. She looks stoned. You don't have to tell me...
Metroid 64:
Oooh! Lookie what I got here people. A picture of Samus from un-released Metroid
64! Jealous yet? Wait... Metroid 64? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...?
